I once had a small pond

I once had a small pond
a pond all my own
sure the fish were few
but big and nice the few were
so happy I was
but then
I got old
and the pond proved too small for me
so I went on to the next
this pond was huge
but not secretive at all
in fact, many other people had beaten me there
so many fish hooked
all was left were the few puny ones
hardly enough for a bite
but, though I grow weary,
I'll put my line into the water anyway
and wait for a bigger fish to bite
