The leaves have long past fallen,
It’s that time of year-
When Santa visits all the malls
to spread some Christmas cheer.

When mistletoe is carefully placed,
and lights are hung up high-
When children scamper through the snow
as it drifts from a chilly sky.

As beautiful gifts are being bought,
and toy stores are selling out-
I think we inadvertently forget
what this holiday is all about.

Long ago and far away,
in a town called Bethlehem-
Jesus Christ was born to earth
and known among all men.

Three magnificent wise men,
with riches and robes to please-
Set out to find their newborn Lord
and worship Him upon bent knees.

Indeed, they brought him many gifts,
and bowed in noble awe-
As the infant child laid undisturbed
in a manger filled with straw.

So when you wake on Christmas morn,
ponder the magic of this day-
Remember the chosen baby boy
in a lowly stable far away.

Remember all the miracles,
and our Savior He came to be-
Remember why Christ was crucified
with love for you and me.

As beautiful gifts are being bought,
and toy stores are selling out-
I think we inadvertently forget
what this holiday is all about.

Long ago and far away,
in a town called Bethlehem-
Jesus Christ was born to earth
and known among all men.
