It was a losing game at the hand of her Ark

The blackness of the sky was matched with the blackness of hearts

It rained fire and blood for years, soiling the earth

The sheer madness of it all

A bloody battle between God’s two lands

Blood and bodies guarding a crown that's not theirs

A crown whose greed is outmatched

All shields for one’s king

Each pawn moving forward to meet the knight's sword

Or the bishop’s cage

I could no longer watch this mad play

So I ran, I abandoned my duty

People call me a coward to this day

But is being scared for your life cowardly?

Is it cowardly to watch your friends fall, knowing you’re next?

Why must I die in a petty game between two people

Why must the pawns be sacrificed for their king

Why must we play in this bloody game

We move forward only to die to the other pawn

To a pawn that will be killed himself for the victory of his king

I am not ashamed of what I did

Yes I ran, but I ran because I could no longer be a pawn for a tyrant

I would not play any longer

So yes, call me a coward

Call me a weakling

Punish me with cowardness in the face of the enemy

But at least I was able to open my eyes and escape a tyrant’s rule

At least I am no longer anyone’s pawn
