Sunflowers
When I think of
you,
I am reminded of
sunflowers.
I am reminded of
soft, yellow
petals tossed to the ground
by those who don't deserve
you.
I am reminded of the
darkness that you
stuff inside of you,
so you don't hurt others.
My child,
you remind me,
sadly,
of sunflowers.
You are mistreated,
used,
and worth more than you
know.

I know many sunflowers. They are stronger than I'll ever be.
