I knew I didn't want a job. I had spent my whole summer playing baseball and just when I had a chance at some free time my dad sent the text.

It was a job listing, and he said if I didn’t apply I wasn’t gonna have a car. I thought I would still be alright but I didn’t want to take my chances. So grudgingly applied. To my surprise, I got hired on the spot, and I knew from that day forward my life was about to get way more complicated.

Walking in I didn’t know what to expect, there was a group of people standing outside the door. People I have never seen before or that I didn’t recognize. One specifically was fixed to the left side of the door holding a large Bluetooth speaker in addition to wearing a party hat. He had been greeting everyone that walked in as if they had been long-lost friends. On the other side, a woman stood with a cowbell, striking it to the beat of the music. The sound encompassed the parking lot as if it were telling everyone that there was something different about this restaurant.

Walking in it seemed the party didn’t slow down at all. The music was even louder and shook the walls of the building. Funny considering this was a higher-scale establishment. I grabbed my nametag off the bar and washed my hands. I was then handed a bag with my name on it and asked to find a seat. In addition to my training materials, I also received a pair of plastic clapping hands. Then as if it were normal we paraded around the building, singing, dancing, and using our clapping hands. My nerves quickly subsided as I knew that my first job wasn’t gonna be so bad. I might have just ended up in the right place after all.
