My Sports Experience

I am a sixteen year old teenager and I have a pretty busy life. I play three sports that I absolutely love and I have played them for most of my life. The sports I play are all year around sports and when I say “all year around” that means that I play them one after another without having a break. In the Spring I play school softball for my highschool, in the Summer I play travel ball for my travel ball team. Along with softball in the summer I start having open fields for soccer which I play in the fall and then also have open gyms for basketball which I play in the winter. I really enjoy all three of these sports and I plan on playing them for as long as I can.

First I started playing softball when I was nine years old. I just wanted to try it out to see what people liked about it and I grew very quickly to love it in such a small amount of time. When I first started playing I played for a wreck ball team down in my old hometown. I played there for about two years then I decided to try and find a travel team I would really like and play for. I finally found a team I really liked and I played for them for about two years. The coach I had my last year there was really horrible and made us kids feel like complete crap and did not treat us with any type of respect whatsoever. He pushed me to my limits to where I pretty much did not want to play softball anymore. My cousin plays for a team that gets along really well and the coach is phenomenal. Adrianna is my cousin's name and she really pushed me to play again but try out for her team and I did and made the team. The coach on that team has really changed me and made me a better teammate and player. I have really grown onto this team and I feel so relieved that I am on a team that not only respects each other but we also love each other and treat each other like family. I could not ask for a better team than them and I would do anything for them any day.

My first year of soccer I was really iffy about because I didn't really want to play but a friend's parents kept suggesting that I should play because I had the potential to be good at it and have fun. I started playing soccer at age six but I quit playing about a year later. I started back up my freshman year of highschool and I played on the varsity team. I made many friends that I was not really close with during school and it was just a fun year all out. I didn’t know I would like soccer as much as I do until I played it again. I played this year my sophomore year and got my second letter and I was a starter and never came out of my games. The season went by quickly and it was scary because of covid-19 and we thought our season was going to be cut short but it didn’t and we are very happy that it did not. The year went through some tough times with injuries and loss of players due to injuries but we all still got second in CBC and took up a huge fight. I can’t wait till next season!

I have been playing basketball since 5th grade. I have enjoyed playing but I never thought I’d still be playing right now. My freshman year I played on JV and we did not really have any players but we still had some games. I also had the opportunity to play up with the Varsity and get more playing time. Even though I didn’t get to play as much on Varsity I still learned a lot from sitting with them. I had more friends on the Varsity than the JV because I got along with them better. The JV team just never had a connection and we all did not really get along. This year I play on the Varsity team and I am a starter. We haven’t had many games this year because it is just the beginning of the season. We all had to be quarantined for about a week because I ended up testing positive for covid and I have been around all of the girls. We are back to practice now and have a game soon but we are all out of shape because of the quarantine we were in lol. We have a lot of injuries with the Varsity so some of the JV has to play with us. Two of us have messed up ankles while another girl has a tear in her ACL. We are hoping that the year gets better as the season goes on but we can’t tell what goes on in the future.

People wonder why I am so busy and why I can never hangout but this is why. I play many sports that I love and they never stop. I am hoping that one day I get a scholarship in one of my sports which I’d specifically want one in softball but any is good to me. I hope they help me with the future and keep me busy. All the sports I play help me stay active and healthy and that's what I love because I  do not want to let myself go at all. I plan on continuing to play them all until I have a reason not too. I love all three sports and if I had to choose a favorite it would either be soccer or softball. I hope to stay active and I also hope this helps people realize why I am busy and I also hope this encourages you guys to stay in sports and play whatever you want.
