Ms. Megan Ellsworth-Reinero is a World an AP U.S. History teacher at Mt. Carmel High School. She cares about each and every student in her classes, and she takes the time to get to know them and show her interest in each person’s activities and lives. Her passion for history can be seen in her vivid, interesting lectures where she captivates students by including personal anecdotes along with historical statistics. You can tell she has extensive experience in preparing her students for the AP exam due to the detailed writing workshops and endless advice on strategy for the APUSH test. Her style of teaching provides a college environment, seen in her lectures, as well as involvement in teaching students how to take the best notes and how to study using the most effective techniques. Before the school year even began, Ms. Ellsworth had already instructed us on how to take several different types of notes to determine which one worked best for us. She is unlike other history teachers because she continually strives to be a better teacher by applying for different summer programs to help her better teach material students are struggling with. Ms. Ellsworth has a fervent passion for history, especially the women’s movement. She truly embodies her idol Susan B. Anthony by not only working as a tireless teacher but “working the 2nd shift” and being a devoted mother of 3 as well. Her story and path to becoming a successful woman is inspiring as she has overcome all sorts of adversity.

Ms. Ellsworth is more than just a history teacher; she helps students in the college process as well. She shares her own personal experience, she writes letters of recommendation, and she is a constant help in applying and choosing colleges. She truly cares about preparing us for the post-high school experiences we will undergo. She takes time out of the busy curriculum to instruct us on class choices and college applications. Our class is now prepared to be successful in not just history, but all areas of academics.
