If I were to be any car in the whole world, I would be a 2006 candy-apple red Mustang GT. Ford has finally hit the jackpot with this masterpiece.

With a click, the door closes and we’re off. I feel the gentle breeze as I ease out of the driveway. Soon, I’m speeding around the curves that are practically my second home. The soft treads beat against the pavement and the scent of freshly burnt rubber sends my adrenaline soaring straight for the moon.

Its beautiful body makes heads turn, and while they get an eyeful, it’s not for long. The red lightning disappears just as fast as it arrives. Stunned observers can’t help but shield their eyes against the sharp beam of sunshine that bounces off the chrome 22-inch rims I just polished. The GT emblem and the patriotic pony take my breath away, having the same effect on my fellow Mustang worshippers.

Some may call it dumb or just plain crazy - I call it love with maybe just a touch of obsession. I have plastered banners, license plates, emblems, and posters all over my bedroom in order to be around this motor vehicle masterpiece. I have also played games revolving around this almost godly machine.

When passing a Mustang on the road, one must honk twice and shout “Mustang!” The first person in the car to do this gets a point. (And the person with the most points at the end of the journey wins.) Passing a Ford dealership also offers an amazing adventure. Pull in, hop out, get in a Mustang, pose, and snap the picture. Don’t even pay attention to the “What is she doing in there?” looks. I mop up the drool running down my face, snap back to reality, and jump back into my ’96 Saturn, which I affectionately named my Stang. Many are fooled by the Mustang decals on three of the six windows - little do they know it’s only a Saturn (a.k.a. ’Stang).

Although my dreams of having a Mustang are slim, a girl can wish. My dream of owning mankind’s greatest vehicle will remain in the center of my thoughts.

After a long day of traveling, it’s time to fill ’er up and head home. I idle up the driveway and tuck Stang into bed - until tomorrow. We’ll be at it again - bright and early.
