chinese politics (over dimsum)
The poem, “chinese politics (over dimsum” written by an author who goes by the name Utopian Society is easily relatable. She uses a humorous tone throughout the well-written poem with great use of metaphor and allusion. She speaks of chinese parents bragging to each other about their children.
The author could see through each of the parents’ comments of the children. As one of the children, the author tells of her feelings that most kids are feeling today. They feel as if they can't live up to their parents’ expectations. I am glad the author found a way to put these emotions into words. I would like to thank him or her for this beautiful poem because I feel the same as her/him. As other parents get to brag about their children, I feel as if I give my parents nothing to feel proud of. As a final thanks, I want the author know she is not alone.
