Where Has All the Music Gone? MAG
As I read "Where Has All the Music Gone?" I couldn't help but become enraged when Ally wrote that "rich white Republican" kids listen to ghetto music. Without a doubt, some do listen to that kind of music, but the fact that she targeted that specific ethnic, financial and political group - and with negative implications - is unacceptable.
Many groups listen to music that doesn't particularly fit their lifestyles, and she should have included a couple of those, too. Or it would have been just as easy to say something like "kids who don't live in ghettos sing about living in ghettos," avoiding the prejudice that is behind her words.
