The Importance of a Helmet
The other day, a child in my neighborhood died on a skateboard. Yes, DIED. He was hanging onto a car that was being driven by his older brother. He slipped under and died shortly after. I must point out that he did not have a helmet or any pads on. Would a helmet have saved him? I do not know. All I do know is that whenever I drive around, there are scores of teen and tween boys skateboarding without helmets or pads. I am a female junior in high school and if you think you are trying to be cool without a helmet, think again. I would much rather date somebody who has enough sense to wear a helmet and cares about their life. If all of my wishes and this short plea makes one person wear a helmet and save their life, then all my of prayers were worth it.
