It was wintertime, a few days after Christmas so there was that excited energy in the air for the New Year. It was also snowing. The snow made that quiet noise that snow does. Almost like bells, but softer and you could only hear it if you really tried. It was the first day of winter break and I was determined to stay up really late. Not because I wasn’t tired, but because I could. I looked at the clock; it said 1:30 AM. My mind went to him then, and I smiled as I usually do when I thought of him. It was tough to be without him at this hour. He walked up to me sitting on the couch, and kissed me. The kiss was gently passionate, and as always after a greeting kiss he smiled and whispered hello. It was something that I was accustomed from him. As he slid his hand down my back to pull me in for a hug I felt a cold wind suddenly, and opened my eyes. I smiled to myself even though I was sad. I thought that it was a good time to go to bed after that. As I closing my eyes I whispered goodnight, as if he was lying down next to me.
