It was fun while it lasted
I have lived my life with joy and pride. I am proud to have many children and grandchildren. The way I lived my life makes me happy and sometimes sad. Starting with my dad showing me “tough love” to fighting for my country. Now it is close to the end.
When I was in the war, that I couldn’t remember the name of because I’m losing my memory, I met a young lady. She was as beautiful as day. Her name was Eileen and she was a nurse. I had got a gun wound in battle and she was there to heal me. We got together on my holiday breaks and eventually we married. Now after fifty some odd years she still stands next to me on my deathbed.
This is what it feels like. I never thought the day would come. I lived my life as an American hero and I married a queen. All I can say is it was fun while it lasted.
