ablaze;
She reached out her limp hand towards me, her bloodied mess of a body contorted in a tortured design, and even through the streams of fire billowing around us, I could make out the exhausted devastation and anguished pain shrinking her blue eyes to nothingness and the tears that mingled with her sweat and blood streaming down her face and the small oval of flesh that was her mouth that parted into her final plea, heartbroken and strangled at the end of the noose, barely carrying above the terror, “Please,”
So I bit back my sobs and released my death grip on the bow string and tried not to scream when it was suddenly silent, when I knew the arrow had hit its mark, and all I could think of in my mind was her ghastly corpse strewn across the wreckage, the soul I destroyed.
