“The Outer Banks, Paradise on Earth. It’s the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one island.” This nostalgic intro to the first episode of “Outer Banks” is very memorable.  This show is about two different kinds of people on the island of “Outer Banks” and they are kooks and pogues.  A kook is a person who has a lot of money and lives on the larger side of the island.  As John B describes it in the intro, they are the ones with two houses.  A pogue is a person who does not have much money and has to work harder than the kooks.  The “Outer Banks” is a great show partly because I enjoy watching action-packed, thrilling, suspenseful, and mysterious television shows.  From the first day I started watching it, it has been my favorite show.  Many different parts of “Outer Banks” make it a good show like the characters, setting, and more.

The main character of “Outer Banks” is John B.  He doesn’t have very much, which makes him a pogue.  He is a loyal and caring friend and boyfriend throughout the whole show.  He is very outgoing and is not the kind of guy to give up once he is started.  His best friend's name is JJ and he is the one that is causing trouble. He will always stick up for his friends no matter the situation.  Pope is another one of John B’s friends and he is smart and cares about all of his friends and will always try to keep them safe.  Kie loves to hang out with John B, JJ, and Pope, even though her parents are kooks and are not big fans of them, that doesn’t stop her.  Sarah is a kook, so she has just about anything she could want.  Initially, she seems like she has an easy life and doesn’t seem too mad about that; however, she is very unpredictable.

This show takes place in Outer Banks, North Carolina, and this place can be visited in real life and a lot of the different places in the show are there.  A big part of the “Outer Banks” is it is on the east coast, so there is an ocean. The Atlantic Ocean plays a big part in this show from hurricanes and shipwrecks to surfing and having fun.  In this show they travel all over the world and the setting changes very often.  For example one day they will be in the Outer Banks and the next they could be in the Caribbean. 

In “Outer Banks,” there are a total of 3 seasons and 10 episodes in each. Each episode is around 40-60 minutes long but they are all action-packed.  There will be a fourth season coming out in the summer of 2024.  The show was first released on April 15, 2020, and they seem to come out with a new season every year or two.  “Outer Banks” season 3 came out on February 23, 2023. In February alone, “Outer Banks” had 402.5 million viewing hours.  This was the most viewing time ever recorded for this Netflix Original series.

In conclusion, I think “Outer Banks” is a great show.  It is the kind of show that can hook the viewer from the opening quote, all the way to the final scene. It is a great show because of the characters, setting, and more.  The show is great and it is bound to have the viewers on the edge of their seats through the duration of each episode.   That is why I would recommend it to anybody who likes watching shows about suspenseful and gripping adventures.
