What A Time To Be Alive by Drake, Future
What A Time To Be Alive is a mixtape created by two hit making artists by the names of Drake and Future. What A Time To Be Alive was a success the day it came out. With songs like “Digital Dash, Scholarships, and Diamonds Dancing, Drake and Future explained what it was like to be alive living the way they do, as stars who often go clubbing to mix drinks, have fun, be entertained and spend sleepless nights in the studio recording. They also made an expression that its such an amazing time to be a fan of rap music.
In What A Time To Be Alive, the whole message is that being, “alive” consists of having a lot of feelings, a lot of money and a lot of sleepless nights. For example in the 30 for 30 freestyle by Drake “The pen is working if you need some ghost lines I thought you wanted yours like I want mine I guess you just making moves on your own time But just know it'll be January in no time” Drake explains that he’s always moving his pen to write lyrics because he wants the money and the fame but time flies.
Not only does Drake spit a nice verse, but so does Future on Live From The Gutter. “On the Billboards, all we do is pop Soon as that night fall, that's when we lock in” There is Future expressing that his goal is to be on bill boards and always make hits. On the song Scholarships, they explain how much they desire success and money with the verse “If I could give everything back to you All this passion I got, all I ever needed For me to move on and succeed”.
On What A Time To Be Alive, it is not only the lyrics that matter but also the beats and sounds by Metro Boomin. The beats were sometimes calm and then they went crazy. It was something to make your mood go from “just chilling” to “its lit” (a term used nowadays to express something fun or awesome.)
The What A Time To Be Alive mixtape is a great mixtape with awesome lyrics and sick beats. The tracks that were on the mixtape explained life as the artists that go clubbing often and mix their drinks as a reward to themselves for the sleepless nights spent in the studio recording and earning their money. Although it might seem like their lyrics are explicit (they might be), if you listen carefully you would understand the insight and meaning to their lyrics. I would recommend anyone to listen to What A Time To Be Alive because it is a deep meaningful mixtape with good meaning behind their words.
