Lifted or the Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground by Bright Eyes
The first time I heard this album it stunned me. I’d never heard something so raw and honest before. It was like all the stuff I was too afraid to put in my own words this band was shameless about. The day after hearing Lifted I went out and bought their entire collection. I couldn’t rave enough about this band.
The one thing I CAN say is that this isn’t a band to listen to if you’re looking for something you can dance to. If you care more about the beat than the lyrics you might as well skip over Bright Eyes in the music store. I’m not saying the music itself is bad, I’m just saying it’s raw. Lots of acoustic and natural sounds. I can assure you, nothing is auto-tuned. They don’t care. Like they mention in a song titled ‘Let’s Not Sh*t Ourselves’ “I do not read the reviews, no I am not singing for you.”
