Being Henry David by Cal Armistead was the true definition of a page turner from the second you meet “Hank” you become immediately intrigued. With a book that at first gives you more questions than answers you wonder about Hank and his true Identity, where he came from and how did he end up in New York City? This Novel is full of extremely relatable characters from lost “Hank” too the emotionally wounded runaways Jack and Nessa. Every character the Armistead throws in Hanks path is incredibly realistic and like Hank they all have a past, some of which they are not proud of. Though there are some long drawn out, and repetitive parts; this out of the box coming of age story is an emotional journey for the characters and the reader. Though it is not a traditional mystery I would still recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery novel. I also highly recommend it to nature fans, history buffs and all around book lovers. I give it 4 stars.
