My book is the fault in our stars by John Green. Things I thought the author did well on was how real the characters were, and how close you felt with the characters you almost felt as if you've known them forever. In one instance in the book Augustus Waters one of the protagonist in the book said, “that's the thing about pain it demands to be felt” (John Green 63) it was as if  you could almost feel the emotion when you read the words on the page. Things I thought work for me was how intriguing  the book was page after page i felt myself getting sucked deeper and deeper into the book. Also the quotes the book had were so deep each quote one after another made me feel more connected to the story and better the characters in side. My favorite quote was "I am," he said. He was staring at me, and I could see the corners of his eyes crinkling. "I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.” (John Green 153). That quote show how much the characters connected and how they felt for one another which kept me intrigued and made me understand their emotions better and really grasp what the author was going for. The plot structure was easy to follow. Because he stayed in the story line throughout the entire story he didn't jump around from one plot to another. Also the way he structured it he made the plot easy to understand and the characters change of emotion noticeable. The theme in my opinion was really insightful. It wasn't cliche because it wasn't like any other book it had its own plot and structure. Also the characters were new characters and had its own storyline it wasn't based on another book it was its own topic and plot. A personal connection I can make in the book is the character's conflict. Which was cancer cancer in my family is hard to escape and has killed many of my grandparents and multiple cousins. Which helped me understand the pain they were going through. I would not recommend this book to young adults/adults who doesn't like romance or doesn't like sad books that will make you cry or mess with your emotions.
