“Matilda,” a fiction novel, written by Roald Dahl, is a superb book that every child would enjoy. From the straightforward illustrations to the vivid language, this book will make you feel as if you were the main character. I feel that this book is an outstanding novel, written by a talented author, who knows how to make you relate to his story in various ways.
In the story, unlike Matilda’s parents and brother, she is very intelligent. Matilda finds her passion for reading books at the age of only 4 years old. This is an extremely young age to start reading books, but Matilda happens to love reading. Throughout the novel, Matilda reads every single children’s book in the library. Although, both of her parents neglect her and do not notice her intelligence. Her parents lack knowledge and watch television all day. But, throughout the story, she impresses a lot of people and people start to realize how gifted Matilda is. She finds that she has the ability to control things with her mind.
The author’s craft brought out lots of figurative languages and it set a scene to the story. Dahl used several of imagery, dialogue, and similes. The point of view used in this story was first person perspective and by using that perspective, I think Dahl made the story more realistic and he had lots of things you can relate to. The setting of this story took place in a small town and at Crunchem Hall, Matilda’s elementary school.
I personally loved this book and thought it was an excellent choice. This book teaches you an important lesson to not underestimate people and their knowledge. This writing was powerful because it brought out a lot of lessons. I think the author achieved their purpose.
In conclusion, the story “Matilda” by Roald Dahl, is a book that I loved and I guarantee every child would too. This outstanding story was simple but then again had detailed illustrations. I rate this book 10/10. All novels by Roald Dahl are excellent and I enjoyed all of them. The one thing that impressed me from this book was the amount of figurative language used. Dahl consistently included dialogue to make us laugh and infer what the story is about.
