Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti
But I can’t do this, she saved my life! These words lingered in Lani’s head through the summer. In “Something Like Fate” a romance/realistic novel by Susane Colasanti tells a love triangle between three main characters. Lani, Erin, and Jason. Lani and Erin are best friends. In the past, a car accident had happened between them and quickly Erin had saved Lani’s life from the lake. Once they got older they have bonded more with the accident. They especially called it fate. They bonded with the fate of how they live until something besides fate turns to love. Soon, Erin starts to like Jason. They get into a relationship until summer hits. Erin goes to summer camp and Lani and Jason are left together. To do what? Play games, buy things or… get close? Jason slowly gets close with Lani but how would Lani feel, Erin or even other people feel and think. The novel runs along a love trail of decisions and wanted relationships. It’s something that is fun to follow. In the novel, the author uses important factors that make the book alive. Strong mood, descriptive language and symbolism. Colasanti uses mood to say all the emotions of the character of how the feeling for each other and the anger from most characters. Descriptive language to tell the words of characters that make the characters and their love. Finally, symbolism to show certain things in the story. The point of view is from Lani’s where you can see the person who made the mistake but for love.
Personal I think the book is amazing and is very real. All the chapters have a twist and each character make their own stories and fall in love. It leads to one thing to another. Everything and one has a connection. It just makes you eager read more and more of how everything goes. It’s like a tv show and binging all the episodes of the season(s) to see how it goes. It’s a very interesting book to read especially if it’s your first one from Susane Colasanti. Each of her words had felt as if I was in a crazy love adventure of how strong and loving each character and chapter had been. The author had proved a really great novel especially included the element of fate that people learn. Even when Lani plays with it. Honestly, if anyone is looking for a great romance book this should be your pick. The author’s mostly wanted us to know that when love is beating you need to get it and not leave it. The book left in a place where love is at its greatest point. Like fairytales, but there actually a princess and prince. The best part is that the book was made and it’s so greatly written with everything. This book makes words turn into real love.
