Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Veronica Roth has done it again, creating a masterpiece! A follow-up of Divergent, Insurgent has nothing to be ashamed of. In a futuristic Chicago that is in trouble, Tris will try to fight to get the city under control. Along the way, she runs into some problems that will trouble her and Tobias. How will this affect her? What will she do? How will Tris and Four make up?
Thinking about Tris, I didn’t like that she thought her life was less important than the others. She turns herself into the Erudite so they would not kill more people. I thought that would be the end of the book there and I got kind of bored. The thoughts she is having were the same thing over and over again. There was no action during that part.
But it was not only bad things. The change of character Peter had was strange change. Peter was one of Tris’s enemies that was against her in initiation. In Divergent, he tries to throw Tris over the chasm but Tobias saves her. He also transported her to her cell in the Erudite compound. But when they are about to get executed, he gives them a paralyzing serum instead of one that would kill her. He then helps them escape the Erudite compounds and came with them. That change of character I thought really helped the mood of the story. At first, I thought Tris and Tobias were going to die but then I realized there was still hope when Tris wasn't dead. That turn in Peters character really helped me understand the book better.
Insurgent relies on knowledge that comes from Divergent to really know what is going on. If you have not read Divergent, you need to read it to get what the book is about and how things change. Insurgent has some strange changes that impact the story in a way that it is hard to explain unless you have read it. If you are looking for a book that is fun and full of action, this is the right book for you.
