Boy 21 by Matthew Quick
Boy 21 by Matthew Quick, a book about a boy named Finley meeting an amazing basketball player, Russell Allen who has just moved to Ireland, but doesn’t go by his real name after his parents have died,he prefers “Boy 21”. He’s also has never touched a basketball after his parents incident, so Finley’s couch wants Finley to make friends with Boy 21 and try to get him to join the basketball team for the school. The two boys hang out everyday with Finleys girlfriend Erin, but Boy 21 doesn’t actually do anything, he just sits around and watch Finley and Erin practice for basketball. One day at school Finley was being bullied and Boy 21 snapped on the bully in front of the entire cafeteria. The fact that Finley would allow the new kid to hang out with him everyday would show friendship and Finley’s love and constant preparation for basketball shows a theme of competition. I recommend this book to people who love basketball and friendship. Its an inspirational book.
