Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender
Bad Girls Don’t Die is about a teenager named Alexis, her sister Kasey, and possession. Alexis and her family move to a new town and discover the past of the town is haunting. Her sister begins to act mysterious; her eyes change between green and blue. Alexis begins to question what is happening with her sister and finds out the heartbreaking truth. Her sister is no longer her sister, but a victim of the deadly past. Alexis fights to find out how to save the ones she loves, before the one she loves turns on her.
The way Katie Alender wrote this book is unbelievable. The characterization in the book really pulls the audience in. She makes the reader become trapped in the book, and fit right into the shoes of her characters. The reader becomes part of the story, because all the characters are different. They range from Alexis, who has pink hair and is socially awkward to Megan the cheerleader, who desperately wants to know her deceased mother’s past.
The dialogue throughout the book held it together. Not only was it important to the character development, it made the plot more intriguing. The dialogue provides the reader with the ability to make connections to the characters. In a scene, Alexis is talking to Carter and the way she stutters made me connect with her on a personal basis. This made the book more interesting and pleasurable to read. Dialogue in the book also makes the process of visualization more prominent.
This book can send shivers down a grown man’s spine. A definite good read. It gives the reader this creepy feel that cannot described. The urge to keep reading is overwhelming. Not only does it make the reader sleep want to sleep with a night light, but it has a superb love story intertwined in it. Bad Girls Don’t Die is a definite success for Katie Alender.
