Songs for a Teenage Nomad by Kim Culbertson
After moving twelve times in eight years with her mobile mother, fourteen-year-old Calle Smith finds herself in Andreas Bay, California, for her freshman year of high school. With not a friend in the world beside her mother and her song journal, Calle struggles to find her place in a world that bounces her between the school drama crowd, an unlikely boy, and a mysterious family secret. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this book. Culbertson's writing is thoughtful, insightful, and thoroughly entertaining. She is an author who understands and respects the situations teens encounter daily. The story is not a dramatic farce but rather a meaningful, relatable venture.
