“For being the one in whose arms you did.” My Bloody Life is a great book due to it talks about the reality of being part of gang activity but also the damage it can create to someone's life. Reymundo gives a lot of great detailed events of how it affected him.

My Bloody Life is about a teenage boy who growing up in Chicago, Reymundo had abusive parents which led him to start drinking and smoking with his friends. His friends were part of a gang which led Reymundo to later join a gang to escape his neglectful parents. Unlike his parents, they made him feel welcomed and accepted which is something his parents never gave him. He would then meet new people, then it would be the beginning of his journey

Reymundo aka Lil Loco is real because it is based on his struggles of being part of gang activity but also his willingness to take part in those actions. Lil Loco was always scared of being part of those events and always had to rely on alcohol to be the person they knew him for. However, when he was sober it would be a different scenario for him. Reymundo would then start thinking a lot about his life choices and what he has done.

If you have any interest in reading about the reality of gang life or about a teenager who was neglected and had to find ways to survive on the streets then I would highly recommend this book. I would only recommend this book to those who have a certain connection or have experienced a similar situation.
