In the story “The Last Good-Bye,” written by Rachel Dunn, it talks about a girl’s father who died unexpectedly. Dunn’s writing left me feeling speechless and sad. I believe that this story was written very well. I loved how I could feel all of the emotions she feels. This line really conveys her feelings of panic and anxiety: “Worried now, I quickly packed my things and left class.” I’ve once had this feeling of anxiety in my life, too. I enjoyed how in depth she went into detail. When it said, “I looked straight at my mom. Tears were running down her face. That was when I knew.” These lines really make the readers’ hearts sink. When I noticed the caption in the middle of the page, “Why didn’t his black life matter?” I was confused at first, but then it all clicked into my head. I thought that was a great piece of information to include.
