“1% Survival Rate” by Trey Buzzard is a story about a boy with STXBP2, which is a genetic condition that is very rare. Anyone who has ever had this condition has never lived past the age of ten. Except for Trey, who fought for many years and is still living, past the age of ten. He got IV’s in his arms, various surgeries, bone marrow transplants, open heart surgeries, and many other procedures over the course of 2 years.

I think that this story brings hope to anyone in the hospital. It is a sad story, with a happy ending. If you have ever been sick in the hospital or have had a relative in the hospital can relate to this story. I can relate to it because, my grandma was in the hospital a lot with various cancers and illnesses. She was always hooked up to machines and different wires just like Trey. He fought for his life, and many of his hospital friends did not make it. They continue to support him from the heavens. Overall this is an incredible story about a long fight to stay alive.
