I have mixed feelings about this dilemma presented in the article. I do believe that if someone is 18 and old enough to sign up to go to war, fight/die for their country, vote, and legally be an adult, they should be able to drink an alcoholic beverage without having to worry about getting in trouble. I agree some with the idea of underage drinking going down, because the desire to break the rules and drink underage will be lessened immensely. I also see the negative part of this idea presented. It is scientifically proven that the brain of a person doesn’t complete growing till around the age 21 or 22. Drinking a lot at the age of 21 or younger could affect brain health and growth. Some teens may also not be up to the responsibility of drinking at the age of 18. They could hurt themselves or others if not taken seriously.
