"Time to Unplug"
In the November 2013 issue of Teen Ink, I easily connected with Kristin Chang’s article “Time to Unplug”. Her teacher challenged her class to go a day without any kind of electronic device. Much like Kristin at the beginning of her article, I see myself as someone who is not dependent on things like iPods, television, or phones. I was surprised when the tone of the article changed and she realized that she was more reliant on technology than she initially thought.
After reading, I am inspired to challenge myself to go an extended period of time without electronics. I may learn that I am more attached to them than I think. If I realize this, I will make it a personal goal to spend more time with friends and less time texting and watching television. I believe that every student should try this for at least one day and then decide on how to manage their time between friends and fancy gadgets.
