In the November 2013 issue of Teen Ink, Nick Roby enlightened and encouraged me in his article “Waste Not Want Not.” Food wasting is an issue I take very seriously, so this article is very relevant to me. My mom taught in Haiti for three years. She told me of the lack of food and abundance of hunger there. Americans are so privileged. When throwing food away, I always think of those who would be happy with whatever I’m throwing away. The homeless, those in poor countries, and countless others would be happy with anything and everything they got to eat. I believe Americans should realize what they’re doing and make the effort to save more food.
