I loved you once when I was young and green
And I imagined that you felt the same
I did not know there was an in-between

But now when I remember I feel shame
I gave my heart so easily to you
I wonder if you’d still recall my name

I can’t help think an explanation’s due
But what phrase could lay bare this awful nest
Of dark deceits I doubt your words would do
If they existed, I’d forget the rest

Get on with life, and start anew and clean
Instead of living with my doubts, obsessed
I loved you once when I was young and green
I did not know there was an in-between

I wrote this poem about love as it flowed to me

A short and sweet poem, well-written as well.
