Shards
Some people will trudge through the broken glass
And try to pull the shards out of their soles
While others listen to the crunching snaps
As thick boots break the ground 'til it can't hold
The intrepid will let their feet grow rough
Until no glass could break their foot façade
Some will bear the world until they're tough
While others wear shoes and say that they're flawed
You'll regret ev'ry piece of glass you break
If someday you find that you've turned around
But if you tiptoe, you just raise the stakes
For in your effort you'll go crashing down
And you might think you're strong and smart and wise
But you won't as you pull glass from your eyes.
