I woke up to one of those days,
When the even the bird's songs are dreary,
And "good morning" is just a phrase.

Yesterday was fine,
Tuesday was a boor,
But today I just want the sun to shine.

Today was supposed to be mine,
I had it all planed out to the second,
But now, the mere thought of a schedule sends shivers down my spine.

First I would make sure
To sleep in extra long,
But I wasn’t planning on this noisy pour.

Next would be breakfast,
With waffles and bacon,
But the power went out with a blast.

Then I wanted to take a dip in the pool,
But with all this thunder and lightning?
I'm no fool!

Man, this is a bummer.
This sure wasn't my idea,
Of the first day of summer.
