"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch you character; it becomes your destiny." - Anonymous

The wind whistled quietly through the plain
As a young girl skipped through the meadow
In the dark of the night the cries of the
Wolves sound hungrily, awaiting flesh.
The girl does not notice though. She is in
Her own little world. She is wandering
And wondering about what the world means.
The girl thinks it means happiness, but she
Does not know what the world really means.
The world is a joyless place, where people
Are kidnappers and murderers. She does
Not know. But in a way that is good. The
World shall remain a little innocent,
if she lives. And that is the greatest gift.

It is so amazingly beautfiul....I often think about this too...Ah, "Innocence truly is Bliss"... yet the world never really lets it linger for long...

"Even in the midst of winter I found within me an invincible summer."

I really love this peice. Particularly the part with the wolves awaiting flesh. I don't know if you meant that as a metaphor, but I saw it as one.  I also really like the picture you chose because it also helps give you an image of what you were expressing.
