The Dream

A flash of light destroys the black of night,
A tiny girl is scared out of her mind,
She screams; she cries but no one is in sight,

Behold the fear of one who is confined,
A frightful man is there to visit her,
A dad by blood without a trace of love,

A punch and then she spots only a blur,
She wants to be allowed to rise above,
Allowed to soar away and ride the air,
To live without the fall of one small tear,
A mom and dad that show their love and care,
A family that fills their house with cheer,
A dream that is her only source of hope,
It seems to be the only way to cope.

I really like this poem.  My favorite line is 'a dad by blood without a trace of love.'  Nice work on it and keep writing!
