The lights that twinkle on the half moon stage
relieve my heart of feeling 'til there's none
The thoughts of pain, along with those of rage,
do seem to leave when curtains come undone

The dancers twirl in half a million ways,
with skin that glistens like the nighttime sky,
illuminate the empty soul that stays
within my chest that only wants to try

I dream of singing in that twink'ling light
And dancing with illumination, "free"
To have that weightless feeling of the night
To watch the audience adoring me

The lights on stage will always sparkle on
So will my dream, until the day I've gone

This was written for a school assignment, but it was inspired by my dream of being on Broadway. Hence the name "Sonnet of a DREAMER".
