To Play the Fool
Viscous, drunken air dances on the cool
Light reflecting across your cheek I cast
In gold. Queen Mab picks me to play the fool,
Cloaking in sober beauty, that does last
In waking dreams, you in your now flawless
Form. While she never makes a confession,
I glorify you by her cold, jealous
Hands with thoughts of love - this, her transgression.
Did I imbibe the apple, or is this
Magnetic heart too naïve for such leech
Drained truths? Galvanize with your poisoned kiss
What exists of my untainted self. Teach
Me to taste the difference between limelight
And fire, both have burned me equally bright.
