Unripe Nectar
She sings of love, but knows not its candy
Taste. The rhythm, the notes swarm together
Infecting intimacy as greedy
Lover’s ears imbibe their unripe nectar.
But as they leave her parted, vestal lips,
Such melodies leave no trace of their sweet
Elixir on her red stained mouth. Her hips
Shake as the words of adoration seep
From her throat. Her eyes violently close - an
Action that to unconditioned, naïve
Eyes appears to be nothing other than
What she wanted them to really believe
Was a minute’s blindness from the spotlight-
Yet its power is the same every night.
