Summer Skin
The all-embracing, lengthy summer night
Oh, the breeze dashing through my golden brown hair
The faded, coffee boardwalk, what a sight
What could ever come close to compare?
Sleep until the luminous afternoon
Explore until the rupture of the dawn
Down goes the bat’s lamp; down goes the moon
As I lay on the jade, newly crisp lawn
Gaze, wonder about the fluttering stars
Watch them dance the jig around in joy
Harmonious in the cobalt sky they are
The world is my Barbie, it is my toy
But nothing’s better than that sheepish grin
When you hold the hand of warm summer skin
