"What are men compared to rocks and mountains?" ~Pride and Prejudice by: Jane Austen

Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art—
I, wholeheartedly, give myself to thee.
Envious, I, of your everlasting heart,
A mere clock beating, in sync, completely.
For Love no longer lasts in this dark world;
Utterly scorned and shamed, Love veils itself.
If found, cherish it! Alike an emerald.
Thou hast Love, be in great fain with oneself!
For I hast Love, a many splendored thing—
I prithee, I beseech thee…don’t part me!
Even if Death be betwixt Love, I still sing,
For love is as strong as Death, I believe.
Oh steadfast star! Wherefore are ye not mine?
Vouchsafe your heart to me for I am thine.

The author's comments:
The poem "Bright Star" by John Keats and the Song of Solomon inspired me, and within my poem, I allude to them both.

Publish more! I, as well as other reader would love to read more of your work! I especially like the tempo sequenced in the clock and the old-fshioned language with intriguing diction such aids in the potency of love.

As you say, love should be cherished as a precious jewel--an emerald. How jealous I am that you can write as such with a deep passion!!!
