"We're a mess. But it's a great mess, a glorious mess."
-Thom Yorke

What a dreaded sunny day!

So I set my soul to imbue

God set the sky ablaze

Maybe Heaven’s burning too

A walk with a familiar stranger

On a bridge everlasting

The sky lit up with swollen anger

And the river dead contrasting

I saw a man whose spirit had flown

Out from his spooked vessel

The fear and dread on his face shown

Twitched and began to wrestle

I laughed, “Ha Ha Ha”

As his face was white as cream

But then I looked at what he saw

And I too began to scream

This is a poem I wrote to accompany the famous painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch. I chose to imagine myself accompanying the man in the painting as if he were an old friend, strolling along the bridge with the illusory sunset as our background. We do not know why the man is screaming, perhaps at something horrific he saw, at a brilliant realization he had, or at his loneliness. That is for you to decide yourself.
