Structure

A structure is made with something in mind

Usually a use or two.

Weather the structure is large or small

It has a use to a few.

A structure can house a class of students

learning advanced math.

Or house a small, frail old lady

With around ten cats.

A structure can house an extended family

Uncles and cousins too.

Or it can be a little cabin

With enough room for 2.

A structure can be a storage place

Containing products and materials.

Or it can be a tall skyscraper

A sight so ethereal.

A structure could be anything imaginable

As long as it’s within physics.

But nowadays, more often then not

A structure is empty and lifeless.

No families or friends

No students or workers.

Nothing resides within these structures

Other then dead rats and vultures.

But anyone can take initiative

And restore a structure to glory.

House it with people, things, homes and businesses

Make it the towns memento mori.

So many structures are neglected and abandoned

Why leave them that way?

They can be used for so many more things

Then being left there to decay.

The author's comments:

This is one of my first poetry pieces as I used to thoroughly despise poetry. I now see how beautiful, complex, and fun it can be so I'm starting to right some of my own pieces. I hope you enjoy.
