Masquerade
Every morning I put on a face
Happy and funny are things I can fake
Without my mask I’m a different race
At some point everyone needs a break
Learning as I do the tango with life
Talent at the masquerade ball I show
me and the Devil fix an awful strife
Ain’t going down, taking it blow-for-blow!
This battle in my head throughout the day
Twenty-four/ seven things pick at my brain
Even in my sleep as I try to lay
And all for nothing but personal gain
And so I untie these corset-like strings
Accepting the win, and leaving all things.

I wrote this sonnet after I wrote one for class called "Dance with the Devil" and this is kind of a prequel to that as this is explaining the before and after and "Dance with the Devil" is zoomed in on the dance that I mention in "Masquerade" so I hope y'all enjoy!
