When fires burn bright of torches in night
As stars from Heav’n can see the light
The cries of men from afar heard I
That came from the land of Maydon

As stories told from the times long ago
When newly lands and rivers flowed
A mighty beast with a hundred eyes
Emerged to rid of Maydon

Keep watch your crops tonight
The Maydon beast is coming
Keep watch your child tonight
The Maydon beast is coming

While riding down the winding road
Which where it goes no mortal shall know
But from my sheath my sword drew I
As I met the beast of Maydon

Whence called the numbered line of men
And called for the horses from Heaven
My sword so mighty divine drew I
And I slayed the beast of Maydon

Keep watch your crops tonight
The Maydon beast is coming
Keep watch your child tonight
The Maydon beast is coming

I wrote this piece to a dark and mystical folk song that I wrote. I picture it to be danced to hundreds of years ago. The tune is dark, but fast paced.
