Get your facts right first, then you can distort them as you please. - Mark Twain

Wounds heal slowly underneath bandages
The ego suffers damages
My eyes closed will not see through the same vision
It all results from a specific decision
Change is at the helm awaiting my arrival
No longer able to hide behind denial
I can't go on numb to touch
Cold towards those who love me much
Wasted air flows into these lungs
The taste of betrayal always stung
Then I found myself doing the same things
That bring good to an end
That cut me wide open
With nothing left to spare but my life
I dropped all restraints as a sacrifice
Holding onto strings best left torn
Leaves me lifeless and worn
Born to be more than this
When asked what I'd give to live again
I said everything I can

I have no chorus to this song. Still I think it is impacting.
