Going and gone
I’m just part of their game
It’s what they wanted all along
Don’t remember my name

Dropped my fam and education
Had to go against my will
Told to ditch sophistication
Thought only criminals would kill

Am I only just a person
Am I only a name
Or am I only just a plan
For our fortune and fame

Brainwashing society to think war is smart
But of all the things I’ve learned
Grab your armor, loose your heart

They command us to go
And they say that it’s right
But will they be the ones to fight the fight?

Thought this was wrong,even illegal
But now we get medals for killing the people.

What is honor?
What is life?
What is love?
What is strife?

They’ve murdered my soul
And corrupted my head
The aim left untold
And me found dead

The author's comments:
I created this assertive rap to represent the ugliness of war but gave it an upbeat playful-like rhythm to satirically mock society and the government's view of war--they acted like it was only a game of chess, even though it was a grave time of life or death. This piece reveals insecurities, corruptions, and nonsense that soldiers were faced with through rhetorical questions and implied statements with multiple meanings flavored with emphasis of repetition and alliteration.
