Idris (Greensleeves)
Alas, my love, she lies down dead.
Her skin is cold and her eyes are sealed.
And though I’ve died, my heart’s still bled.
For my love lay dead in this icy field.
I may have died in this cold, dark room.
From knife blade slashing my face and neck.
And this cold storage’s become my tomb
My ghastly presence will never fleck.
Idris come full of woe,
Apologies and cries and tears.
She had promised me though she knows
That she would not make it alive in here.
The room gets colder, she stars to freeze.
Her warmth is leaving her body fast.
A wedding in his time to ease
Her soul until her life has passed.
Her hands are cold and her eyes are dull.
Her vows were shivering in ice-cold dew.
I soften my eyes, which seemed to lull
Her as she said her last “I do”.
Idris, my love, asleep.
Her ticking heart has come to cease.
Blood and tears fall as I weep.
Her spirit's in heaven to rest in peace.
