I’m from the river

A place bathed in light

I played and I frolicked

From day until night

I loved my river

Where the reeds danced and swooned

I grew up knowing

Just my little cocoon

Away, Away

I’m bound away

To cold and to snow

Away, away

I’m bound away

From the places I know

I played by my river

Where the sun’s path was long

But people change

And time marches on

I left the river

With its swaying trees

Found fresh beginnings

Found a new place to be

Away, Away

I’m bound away

To cold and to snow

Away, away

I’m bound away

From the places I know

I missed my river

And its sweet lullaby

The new world is grayer

But I will not cry

‘Cause up from the river

Where the waters sing, blue

I met new people

And I met you

Away, Away

I’m bound away

To cold and to snow

Away, away

I’m bound away

From the places I know

At the end

Of my own life

I won’t remember

The fear and the strife

I’ll remember the river

And the peace it gave

I won’t be fearful

I will be brave

I want to convey how important childhood memories are and how much people must go to know they haven't changed
