Resilience
She was so young when her daddy walked –
no love in his heart, and now hers is locked.
Her bloodshot eyes so filled with pain
as she waited for a daddy who never came.
Your love was so strong you thought it could never break.
He broke the strongest promise he could ever make.
You lost yourself when he broke your heart;
well, it’s no surprise that you fell apart.
He’s looking for something he just can’t find,
longing for what was left behind,
searching for what he saw in her eyes
before the night she walked out of his life.
I see the fight
as it rages on
behind your eyes,
I see the scars
as you try to hide the pain
of a broken heart.
So drink to all that pain you’ve suffered –
to the times you felt that you would never recover.
Get up off your knees and stand up tall,
‘cause there are some who would kill to see you fall.
